| The
S.E.T. range of battery powered, remote controlled battery
powered rail tugs and tow tractors is the initial embodiment
of the S.E.T. patented ‘Wheel-Motor’ drive system into
a rail vehicle. |

at the RedCow, LUAS Depot in Dublin |
The
RAILCAT series uses 2 or 4 S.E.T. 'Wheel-Motors' of sufficient
power to suit the towing requirement. The 'Wheel-Motors'
provide the main drive and braking system in the low speed
RAILCAT, which is primarialy designed to accurately position
tram and light rail car sets over a wheel lathe, where
the infinitely variable, controlled, speed ensures safe
and accurate positioning. The RAILCAT is powered by sealed
lead acid batteries which require no maintenance and the
movement is precisely radio controlled, enabling the operator
to safely and accurately position the wheels onto the
wheel lathe from the lathe pit if required |

The radio controlled RAILCAT is controlled by a handset,
which includes a system 'enable' button effectively acting
as a 'dead man's' handle, and a speed and direction control
paddle. The paddle self centres to zero, thus the release
of either the paddle of the enable button will automatically
brake and stop the RAILCAT. Emergency braking is included
as standard as are audible and visual warnings whilst
the RAILCAT is enabled. Wheel lathe interlock included. |
